Nowadays, It is crucial to exchange ideas and knowledge across countries, especially among artistic fields. Photography is one of these fields, and the Encontros da Imagem organization is aiming for this exchange allowing authors from other countries to engage with our culture and photography professionals. Now, we want to go abroad and show the work of Portuguese authors.
FACING (UN)REALITY – Portuguese photography now, is a project that is part of the Encontros da Imagem organization, and its purpose is to unveil contemporary Portuguese photography abroad. The project consists in a projection that includes photographic works of many Portuguese authors, divided in thematic chapters. This audiovisual, will be projected in several European photography festivals. The idea of putting together a projection, gave us the change to gather a great amount of Portuguese authors into one piece of presentation, which makes it easier to share and exhibit.
With this project, we wish to demonstrate what is photography in Portugal right now, and hopefully inspire and engage people with these works.
