Kirill Golovchenko one of the finalists Grand Prix Fotofestiwal 2014 is the winner of the European Publishers Award for Photography (EPAP) 2014! His project Bitter Honeydew will be published in Autumn 2014 by five publishers in five languages. The formal presentation will be held at the Rencontres d’Arles in July.

Bitter Honeydew shows life of people running roadside stalls and living in tochkas in Ukraine. Tochka is the common name for sales point, although sometimes also applies to prostitution. Sellers live near their makeshift emporiums in tents and trailers, some build shacks for the summer (months). Many of them come from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia and mix with the locals. They live and sell alone or some of them bring their families, kids mostly are growing up on the street. What unites them is the desire to make money.
Glovchenko’s photographs are telling not only about their reality but also about compassion for these displaced men and women and their bitterness in their lives.
