10.00 pm Brooklyn Night of Photography - Brooklyn was cool, before cool was in. Standing its ground – just across the river from the bustling metropolis of Manhattan – Brooklyn has successfully maintained its own distinct cultural identity, defined by neighborhoods that have kept their core ethnic values over many decades. Each neighborhood a unique gem, each offers photographers a fertile dynamic background to capture a glimpse of the Brooklyn experience. Spanning fifty year, from the 1960s through today, “A Brooklyn Night of Photography” is a visual journey that brings together powerful, personal works by more than 20 photographers from across this proud borough, representing every aspect of Brooklyn’s diverse identity, heart and soul. No Sleep till Brooklyn! Curated by Jamel Shabazz and produced by United Photo Industries – Brooklyn, NY.

They depict slow and insignificant moments of everyday life, relationships between people or emotions related to specific events. Unfamiliar faces and scenes captured on amateur photographs form together a record of what we, Poles of the 20th century, found deserving to be kept forever in family albums. The displayed selection of photographs comes from an iconographic collection of more than 300,000 photographs attached to biographies stored by the Archive of Oral History of the KARTA Centre Foundation and the History Meeting House.
