When: 6-7 June 2014
Where: Art_Inkubator, 3 Tymienieckiego Street, Łódź, Poland

Breaking into the creative industries is tougher than ever before. That’s why Magnum Photos have created an incredible training opportunity for photographers, providing a rare and valuable insight into the business of photography.

Conceived as a response to the constantly changing nature of the market, Professional Practice is a two-day masterclass hosted by renowned international agency Magnum Photos. With access to key professionals working in editorial, commercial, cultural and publishing industries, Magnum is well placed to advise the next generation of photographers.

Aimed at emerging practitioners, it provides photographers with an opportunity to identify realistic employment routes and network with the UKs leading photography professionals. Through a diverse series of lectures presented by leading our experts, Professional Practice engages a wide variety of sectors and demystifies the inner workings of obtaining commissions, organising exhibitions, finding an agent and publishing work.

A second day focusing on Portfolio Reviews provides photographers with an honest and constructive critique of their work from our industry specialists. In their professional capacities, our experts routinely work with photographers; commissioning, selecting, editing and purchasing images and are perfectly placed to provide impartial feedback about your work. Reviews will be conducted in small groups to encourage confidence building and peer to peer engagement.

Each of Magnum’s Professional Practice seminars is tailored to deliver the best impartial advice and provide networking opportunities with key decision makers. Places on Professional Practice are limited and successful candidates will be chosen on the perceived benefit to the applicant’s career.
